If you’ve been on my blog before you probably know that God blessed me and my husband with twins exactly 18 months ago.
So in this blog post I want to ask you guys for some help regarding potty training them. I know that 18 months is about the right age to consider starting potty training them.
So far from what I’ve read online on other sites, the readiness signs are there. I found a very interesting video by Jennifer Morgan that really explains how to look for signals that your child is ready to start toilet training. I’ll add it to this post at the end.
Anyway, according to Jenny’s guide you can potty train you kid in 2 or 3 days, but I’m a bit skeptical that this also works for twins.
So here’s what I did so far:
- I bought supplies. I got real underwear. I though I should skip the training pants for now. But I’ll probably use them when it comes to night time potty training, but for day time, me and my husband we tought we’d go with real underwear.
I got both my boys potties. They had to choose between potty chairs or potty seats and they went with the potty chair. If it were up to me I would have wanted to get the potty seats because it’s less mess to clean up. But I think it’s important that you let your kids make the choice. As long as they pee and poop on them I don’t care if it’s one or the other.
- I’ve set aside a weekend in which all I’m going to focus on is my boys. I’m going to keep an eye on them so I can see quickly if there is any sign that they would need to pee or poop.
Luckily, Nino, my husband is going to be helping me with this. I don’t think I can do it alone with 2 toddlers.
I heard that with twins or mutiples when it comes to potty training, if one of them gets it, the other one will follow along.
Hopefully this will happen with my 2 darlings too.
Anyway that’s what I got, if you have any suggestions or tips I would appreciate it if you leave a comment.
As a sidenote, I found some books online about potty training but I don’t know if I should spend any money at this time before I’ve even started toilet training.
Have you bought any books or guides with your kids when you potty trained them? Maybe you can share some that are good so if I decide to buy, I won’t spend money on something that doesn’t help my at all.
I’m going to update you guys on how the potty training goes next week. So if you want to follow along make sure you subscribe to my RSS feed or my newsletter.
